What you get

Everything a terminal should do. Plus the part it never could.

No bloat, no telemetry dashboard, no "workspace" you have to configure first.

Real shells, side by side
cmd, PowerShell, git-bash on Windows; bash, zsh on Linux — auto-detected and opened in their own tabs. Each tab keeps its own session, no shared state to trip over.
AI that can see your terminal
It already knows your OS, your active shell, your current folder, and what you've been running — so the answer fits your exact situation, not a generic tutorial.
Run it with one click
Every command the AI suggests has a Run button — it executes right in your active tab. Anything risky gets flagged first, so nothing destructive runs by accident.
Bring your own model
Run Ollama locally for free, or plug in OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or any OpenAI-compatible custom endpoint. Your keys are stored only on your machine — never on ours.
Right-click any folder
"Open in AI Terminal" in File Explorer context menu — no more cd-ing through folders. Opens straight into the right directory, ready to ask or run anything.
Light, dark, always current
Pick the theme that matches the rest of your setup. AI Terminal checks for updates quietly in the background and tells you when one is ready.
Right where you need it · Windows

Skip the "cd" entirely.

Right-click a folder in File Explorer and AI Terminal opens straight into it — already pointed at the right place, ready to ask or run anything. Every new tab in that session starts there too. (Windows feature — Linux users open AI Terminal and cd in as usual.)

Frequently asked

Common questions about AI Terminal

Is AI Terminal really free — forever?
Yes — 100% free, forever. No trial, no freemium, no subscription. You download it once and it works. The AI itself uses your own API key (or Ollama locally for completely free AI with no internet cost).
What AI models does AI Terminal support?
Ollama (free, runs locally), OpenAI (any GPT model), Anthropic (Claude models), and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint including LM Studio and llama.cpp. You provide your own API key — AI Terminal never touches or stores your key externally.
Which operating systems does AI Terminal support?
Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit) via .exe installer. Linux via .AppImage (works on most distributions without installation), .deb (Debian/Ubuntu), and .rpm (Fedora/RHEL).
How does AI Terminal know about my terminal context?
When you ask a question, AI Terminal automatically includes your OS, active shell (PowerShell, bash, zsh, cmd), current working directory, and recent command history in the context sent to the AI. You get answers for your exact setup — not a generic Stack Overflow result.
Are my API keys safe?
Yes. Your API keys are stored only on your local machine. They are never sent to Tech Tone's servers. AI Terminal sends your queries directly from your machine to whichever AI provider you selected, using your own key.
What does the Run button do?
When the AI suggests a command, a Run button appears next to it. Clicking it executes the command directly in your active terminal tab. Commands that could be destructive are flagged with a warning first — nothing harmful runs by accident.

About AI Terminal

AI Terminal is a free, open terminal application for Windows and Linux developed by Tech Tone (itechtone.com), based in Morbi, Gujarat, India. It pairs real multi-tab shell sessions with a built-in AI assistant that is fully context-aware — it knows your operating system, active shell type, current working directory, and recent command history before you even type a question.

Unlike generic AI chatbots where you have to explain your environment every time, AI Terminal sends your full context automatically — so every answer is specific to your exact setup, not a generic tutorial. It supports Ollama (free, runs entirely offline on your machine), OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and any OpenAI-compatible custom endpoint. Your API keys are stored locally and never leave your machine.

AI Terminal is 100% free — no subscription, no sign-up, no usage limit. Available for Windows 10/11 (.exe), Debian/Ubuntu (.deb), Fedora/RHEL (.rpm), and any Linux distribution (.AppImage).

Make your day even easier.
