Privacy Policy

Short version: SQLBook is a local-first desktop tool. Your database credentials, queries, and results never leave your machine. We collect minimal information only where necessary — download verification, optional in-app surveys, and privacy consent records. We do not sell your data, ever.

3.1 Download Registration Form

To download SQLBook you must complete a short form. We collect:

This data is stored in a JSON file on our server. We do not share it with third parties. We do not use it for advertising.

3.2 Email Verification (OTP)

A one-time 6-digit code is sent to your email to verify ownership. The code expires in 10 minutes. The OTP and session data are deleted after successful verification or session expiry. Your email address is retained as part of the download registration record for up to 3 years unless deletion is requested..

3.3 Server Logs

Our web server automatically logs standard HTTP access data (IP address, timestamp, URL requested, browser user-agent). These logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and used only for security and debugging purposes. We do not use logs for profiling or tracking individual users.

3.4 Download Counters

We maintain aggregate per-OS download counts (Windows, macOS, Linux) and a total download counter displayed publicly on the website. These are aggregate numbers only — no personal data is associated with them.

4.2 Privacy Consent Record

On first launch, SQLBook presents this privacy policy and asks for your acceptance. When you accept, the following is recorded on our server:

Hardware identifiers The following non-changing device identifiers are collected and sent to our server encrypted using AES-256-CBC encryption. The raw values are never stored in plaintext on our servers — only the encrypted form is saved. These identifiers are used solely to verify device identity in the event of a legal dispute regarding acceptance of this policy.

  • CPU Processor ID and model name
  • Windows MachineGuid — set at OS installation, stored in the Windows registry

  • MAC address of the primary physical network adapter

  • IP address — your real IP at time of acceptance (encrypted, never hashed)
These values are collected once at the moment you click "I Accept" and are never collected again unless you re-accept a new version of this policy.

4.3 Version Check

SQLBook periodically contacts itechtone.com/products/sqlbook/php/version_check.php to check whether a newer version is available. This request contains:

The server returns the latest available version string. If a new version exists, a small banner is shown inside the app. No usage data is sent.

4.4 Server-Configured Notifications (Ads & Surveys)

SQLBook may show one server-configured notification per day (if configured by us). These can be:

Survey participation is entirely voluntary. You can dismiss any survey without submitting. Surveys are shown no more than once per session per survey ID.

4.5 Donation Reminder

After 7 days of usage, SQLBook shows a one-time in-app reminder about supporting the project. This is handled entirely on-device using localStorage. No data is sent to our servers. You can dismiss it permanently.

5. Local Storage (On Your Machine)

The SQLBook desktop application stores the following data locally on your machine only:

SQLBook is a professional database tool not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect data we store, including server-side file access restrictions (.htaccess), hashed IP storage, and no storage of plaintext passwords. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect systems and data, users should avoid submitting sensitive personal information through optional survey forms.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when new features are added or applicable law changes. The version number at the top of this page changes with every update. When a new version is released, the SQLBook desktop application will show the updated policy on next launch and ask for re-acceptance if the version number has changed.

13. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Morbi, Gujarat, India.
